A funeral will be held Friday, September 23, 2022 for 83-year-old Gerald David Rucker of Chester, Ill., who passed away at 9:16 p.m., Monday, September 19, 2022 at his residence.
He was born to Charles and Helen (nee Hanneken) Rucker on December 7, 1938 in Robertson, Mo. Both preceded him in death.
Gerald married June McAdams on October 17, 1959 in Chester, Ill. She preceded him in death August 18, 1978.
He then married Jerry Kueker June 2, 1993 at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, Ill.; she survives in Chester.
He is also survived by four children: Carolyn Rucker of Chester, Ill., Dale Rucker of Chester, Ill., Julie (Vernon) Hartman of Chester, Ill. and Dean (Felecia) Rucker of Chester, Ill., nine grandchildren: Matthew (Kelly) Rucker, Heather Hartman, Stacy (Jason) Ferber, Brittany Rucker, Holly Hartman, Emily (Nathaniel) Wyckoff, McKenzi (Jon) Hoffman, Joshua Rucker, and Luke Hartman, five great grandchildren: Adeline Ferber, Carson Rucker, Henry Ferber, Wrenley Hoffman, and Beckett Wyckoff;
three step children, 11 step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren; five sisters-in-law: Eileen Rucker, Mary Ann Twitty, Vera Siegfried, Virginia Faye, and Debbie (Kevin) Herring; four brothers-in-law: Harry (Mary) McAdams, Carl (Jan) McAdams, Donnie (Joby) McAdams, and Bobbie (Louise) McAdams and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his in-laws: Daniel and Adeline McAdams; two brothers: Stanley Rucker and Everett Rucker; two sisters-in-law: Vada Savage, and Verona McAdams, four brothers-in-law: Daniel McAdams, Richard Savage, Larry Siegfried, and James Twitty and a nephew: Joe Rucker
He worked at Sparta Printing Press and then Solar Press.
After he retired, he worked the grill at Rozier’s Country Market in Chester, Illinois.
Gerald was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, Illinois. He was an adamant sports fan – St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues and Chester Yellowjackets.
He loved gardening, doing puzzles, playing rummy, coaching, and spending time with family.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2022 and 9-10 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Pechacek Funeral Homes, Chester, Illinois.
A funeral for 83-year-old Gerald David Rucker of Chester will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Pechacek Funeral Homes, in Chester, Ill. Rev. Justin Massey will officiate.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the Chester Nutrition Center and the American Diabetes Association.
