St. Louis police pursuit ends in Ste. Gen Co. with capture of suspect

ST. LOUIS – A police pursuit which began in St. Louis yesterday around 8:36 p.m. ended in Ste. Genevieve County around 9 p.m. when the pursued vehicle stopped and the driver who was believed to be armed ran into the woodline next to I-55. As a result, the interstate was shut down at the 153 mile marker (three miles north of the Route 32 exit). Officers began searching and a K9 unit on the way. The suspect is reportedly wanted for robbery and stealing and carjacking.

The subject was apprehended about 11:12 p.m. “about 60 yards into the woods, near a camper”, according to police radio traffic.

An ambulance was called to the 152.8 mile marker to treat someone with a dog bite. The officers searching for the suspect did have a K9 with them, but it could not be immediately confirmed that the dog bite call was related to the capture of the suspect, though the timing made it a logical conclusion.

Subsequent police radio traffic made it clear that it was the suspect who needed to be treated for a dog bite.

St. Louis Scanner News posted this timeline of the pursuit on its Facebook page.
