JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Missouri Geological Survey has made significant improvements to a popular water well data system. The new Well Installation Management System, known as WIMS 2.0, offers a more user-friendly and intuitive interface.
“We are very pleased to make this new online tool available to water well contractors and the public,” said Dru Buntin, director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. “In addition to the improved user experience, instructional videos for using the application also are available on the WIMS 2.0 welcome page.”
WIMS 2.0 offers individuals in the well construction industry the ability to apply for permits online, complete and submit forms online, and more. Anyone can search for a water well drilling contractor, find a well driller’s permit to do business in Missouri, search for wells across the state, report an abandoned well and submit an environmental concern using the app.
“Water well contractors using WIMS 2.0 enter information about wells and apply for permits by first registering an account in the Missouri Gateway for Environmental Management system, known as MoGEM, which is accessible from the WIMS 2.0 welcome webpage,” said Jerry Prewett, assistant state geologist and deputy director of the department’s Missouri Geological Survey.
