STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve R-II Backpacks for Friday has received a $500 donation from the Ste. Genevieve FFA and the Missouri Farmers Care Foundation.
The FFA received $250 from the state FFA to present to address food insecurity and raise awareness. This grant was matched by the Ste. Genevieve Farm Bureau.
Ste. Genevieve R-II School District Assistant Superintendent Dr. Paul Taylor, Ste. Genevieve Farm Bureau Sales Manager Ernie Weiler, FFA President Etta Heller, FFA Sentinel Cole Romann, FFA Sponsor Hannah Fritsche-Donze.
Backpacks for Friday is an initiative that provides basic food staples to 50 needy families.
Ste. Genevieve R-II partners with the Southeast Missouri Food Bank to organize the program, which is funded through donations from community organizations, local businesses and residents. These donations are a vital contribution, as these partnerships assist us in the fight against hunger here in our community.
A school official stated, “We all know that when our students’ basic needs are met, they can focus on learning and growing into strong, productive, healthier citizens.”
