A funeral will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022 for 90-year-old Herbert Cassidy of Sainte Genevieve, who passed away Monday, January 10, 2022 in Sainte Genevieve.
He was born August 12, 1931 in Killybegs, Ireland, the son of Robert Cassidy and Fanny Long, who both preceded him in death.
He married Mary Lou McGivney June 11, 1952. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by a daughter: Patricia (Peter) Powell of Sainte Genevieve; a son: Robert (Lisa) Cassidy of Sainte Genevieve; a granddaughter: Cheyenne Bieser; a great-granddaughter: Bailey Rayoum; and two great-grandsons: Brady Rayoum and Liam Bieser.
He was also preceded in death by a sister: Kay Earley; a brother: Robert Cassidy; a granddaughter: Amber Bieser; and a great-granddaughter: Brinly Rayoum.
Herbert came over from Ireland when he was 17.
He served in Korea in the Army.
Herbert had always idolized the “American Dream” and lived it proudly.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve.
A funeral for 90-year-old Herbert Cassidy of Sainte Genevieve will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve. Pastor Steve Matthews will officiate.
Burial will be at Crestlawn Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve.
