PERRYVILLE — An 80-year-old Perryville woman has been cited for knowingly burning after her yard waste fire spread from a burn pit in her yard into two neighboring yards and melted part of the siding on two structures.
A police spokesperson said Bonnie Brooks left her fire unattended and police found her asleep in her home.
The spokesperson said the fire was spotted by a passerby who noticed the smoke.
She said the fire was extinguished before it could do any more damage.
She noted that yard waste fires should not be left unattended and should not be started on windy days.
The incident happened about 1:22 p.m. Wednesday, February 18 in the 1000 block of Crestview Lane.
