Wrong-way driver collides with car on I-55, four hurt

JEFFERSON CITY — Three St. Louis residents suffered moderate injuries in a traffic crash late Saturday night in Perry County, Mo. when their car was struck by a wrong-way driver on I-55 in Perry County, Mo..

 

The three: a 15-year-old boy, and two 18-year-old men were taken to Mercy Hospital Perry by ambulance.

 

The driver of the wrong way vehicle: a 34-year-old Potosi woman had serious injuries and was flown to Mercy Hospital South by Air Evac. She was later charged with DWI, possession of a controlled substance and three counts of second degree assault. The accident report did not identify her, but the Highway Patrol arrest report identified her as Amanda Skaggs.

 

The crash happened about 11:50 p.m. at mile marker 137 on the southbound side of the interstate.

 

The wrong way vehicle was a 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan which was a total loss.

 

The three St. Louis residents were in a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta which had extensive damage.

 

Both vehicles were towed by Ste. Genevieve County Towing.
