Dee Anderson shared photos on The Friends of the Chester Bridge Facebook page documenting cleanup and steel salvage work underway at the old Chester Bridge.

The photos were taken between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. yesterday from the Illinois riverfront near the Chester Water Treatment building and the Union Pacific Chester Subdivision. Crews continued working near the Missouri riverbank to remove and salvage steel from the old bridge.
Despite some apparent challenges during the day, crews had lifted a section from the western end of the partially submerged bridge by approximately 2:30 p.m.
The removal and salvage work is expected to continue throughout the week and for much of the remainder of autumn 2026.
