According to reports, the crash happened about 12:57 p.m. when the driver of the vehicle “blacked out”.

The driver was able to get out of the car and exit the storage unit on his own power. The driver did not appear to have major injuries according to emergency personnel and Wal Mart staff at the scene.

After the driver of this car was taken to the hospital for an examination to access possible injuries, members of the Chester Fire Department, Chester Police, and G & J Towing, worked to get the vehicle extricated from the Wal Mart Storage Unit.

The force of the car hitting the unit pushed the unit several feet from its original position and ripped a hole in the side of the unit. The car ended up with its entire front end inside the unit.

The Chester Fire Department had to use its extrication equipment to allow G & J Towing to pull the car out of the unit and away from the scene.

A member of Wal Mart staff noted that most likely there was damage to items in the unit amounting at thousands of dollars.
