JEFFERSON CITY, MO — Missouri State Treasurer Vivek Malek today announced that 2025 was the most successful year in the history of the MO ABLE program, setting new records for both active accounts and assets.
Last year, a record number of Missourians used MO ABLE to invest in their futures. In 2025, the program added 1,394 active accounts and more than $15 million in assets, marking the strongest year since its launch in 2017.
“These record-breaking results mean more Missourians with disabilities and their families are saving, investing, and preparing for the future,” said Treasurer Malek. “Every new account represents an individual or family taking an important step toward greater financial security and independence.”
A key factor in the program’s growth was Treasurer Malek’s commitment to expanding awareness of MO ABLE across Missouri. Throughout 2025, Treasurer Malek significantly increased outreach, connecting with individuals, families, advocates, service providers, schools, and community organizations to ensure more eligible Missourians knew about the program and its benefits.
At the same time, changes were made that expanded opportunities for participation in the program, including creating new pathways for children in foster care to benefit from MO ABLE. Together, these efforts introduced the program to new audiences and made it easier for more Missourians with disabilities and their families to take advantage of this valuable financial resource.
“Expanding access to MO ABLE has been a priority of mine because every Missourian deserves the opportunity to build a more secure financial future,” Treasurer Malek said. “I am committed to continuing to increase the visibility, access, and awareness of this program. By expanding our partnerships with local, state, and federal leaders, as well as advocates and community organizations across Missouri, we can continue growing MO ABLE and build toward another record-breaking year in 2026.”
A MO ABLE account allows eligible Missourians with disabilities to save for qualified expenses, invest for future needs, and maintain access to important public benefits. To learn more about MO ABLE or open an account, visit www.moable.com.
