Todd Dean Ehlers

A funeral will be held Thursday, February 12, 2026 for 48-year-old Todd Dean Ehlers of Wine Hill, Ill., who passed away at his home Feb. 5, 2026.

 

Todd was born on Oct. 30, 1977 in Chester, Ill., the son of Darrel D. and Carol A. (Huseman) Ehlers of Campbell Hill. His mother preceded him in death, his father survives in Campbell Hill. 

 

He is also survived by a son: Bryce of Wine Hill; a sister: Amy (Josh) Brown of Campbell Hill; nephews, Conner and Carter Brown; Bryce’s mom, Mary (Sam) Oberle of Ste. Genevieve, MO; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

 

Todd was also preceded in death by his twin brother: Tyson; uncles: Lawrence Huseman, Leonard Huseman, Jerry Ehlers and Gilbert Oetjen; aunts: Marla Cushman and Marsha Ehlers; and his grandparents.

 

Todd was an educator at Menard Correctional Center, a police officer in the surrounding area, and a former Ag Teacher at several local high schools. He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Post Oak, where he held several leadership positions.

 

His greatest pride and joy was his son, Bryce, who was not only his only child, but also his best friend and hunting buddy.

 

The two shared countless hours together outdoors, making memories in the woods, telling stories and enjoying the simple moments that meant the most.

 

Todd was a proud graduate of Trico High School and SIU.

 

During his time at Trico, he was actively involved in FFA, encouraged by his teacher and uncle, Lawrence Huseman. He earned both the State and the prestigious National FFA Degrees. He remained active in the FFA Alumni.

 

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

 

His memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons he passed along, the junk he bought and the love he gave to all.

 

Visitation will be at the Wilson’s Funeral Home in Ava, where friends may call today (Wednesday), from 3:30-8 p.m., and Thursday from 7:30=9 a.m. and then from 10-11 a.m. at the church.

 

A funeral for 48-year-old Todd Dean Ehlers of Wine Hill will be held Thursday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Post Oak, Campbell Hill, Ill. with Rev. Michael Foppe and Minister Deb Rathert officiating.

 

Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery-Post Oak, Campbell Hill.

 

In lieu of plants and flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to a scholarship fund set up for Bryce Ehlers or the Todd Ehlers Memorial Fund to be distributed to his favorite charities and organizations.
