STE. GENEVIEVE – Get excited! The Spirit of Pink is scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 5:30 pm at the Orris. The highly anticipated signature breast cancer awareness event is on for another year with a shared theme of Harvesting Hope. Women of all ages can join together and shine a light on breast cancer awareness empowering women to prioritize their health.
“Women will enjoy coming together to show strength, courage and grow in hope for all those who have been touched by breast cancer,” said Dr. Angela Ware, breast surgeon and director of the Metis Breast Center at the Bloomsdale Medical Centre.
The program will feature guest speaker, Katie Hogenmiller, RN who understands firsthand the impact breast cancer can have on a family. As someone who carries the BRCA gene, she has faced difficult decisions with grace and determination. Her story celebrates the power of awareness, prevention, resilience, and above all, hope.
“It was a life changing experience for me and my family but I want others to know there is hope,” said Katie.
Each year, organizers make the event inspiring, fun, and educational. This year’s event will be extra special since the event’s theme is Harvesting Hope to help promote empowering women to prioritize their health and recognize the strength they have to endure life’s challenges. The program includes an evening of dinner with mocktails, fun photos, music and more!
“This will be an exciting moment for us,” said Dr. Ware. “Women can dress in pink to show how they are committed to their health, it will be lots of fun.”
Angela Ware, DO, breast surgeon and Mary Crecelius, WHNP, APNG-BC, DipACLM will extend a warm welcome to start off the night. In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, there will be information available on genetic testing, breast cancer prevention and treatment.
