The River Hills Run is back

ALTENBURG – The infamous River Hills Run is back on the fair program after a seven-year absence. This run is from the boat ramp on the Mississippi River in Wittenberg and up the hills to the streets of Altenburg to the East Perry Community Fairgrounds.  The 4.5-mile course is often described as “uphill all of the way” and that is fairly close to accurate.

A Kids Fun Run will follow. It will be 0.8 miles along the sidewalks of Altenburg to the fairgrounds. The Kids Fun Run is for kids 13 years old and younger.

Proceeds from the event are going to both United in Christ Lutheran School and Altenburg Public School to assist in funding the upcoming Washington DC trips for their students. The event is being managed by Courtney Palisch and Lindsey Lappe Hadler.

The River Hills Run begins at 8:00 am on Saturday, September 20, and participants are asked to gather at the fairgrounds stage for transportation to the starting point.  The Kids Fun Run will begin at 9:00 am and participants should gather at the fairgrounds stage at 8:30 am.

Entry fee for the River Hills Run is $25, and the Kids Fun Run is $15.  Pre-entry, which ensured a T-shirt, for the event closed on September 1.  Same day registration is available with T-shirts provided if still available.  Visit the River Hills Run event page on Facebook for more information.
