JEFFERSON CITY — A 10-year-old Festus boy died in a UTV crash on Avon Road in Ste.Genevieve County this (Sunday) afternoon.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the boy was a passenger on a 2009 Polaris Ranger driven by a 12-year-old boy from Valles Mines. The 12-year-old was not hurt.
The patrol says the accident happened when the driver attempted to make a U-turn, causing the vehicle to roll over. The 10-year-old was pronounced at the scene by the Ste. Genevieve County Coroner. The driver was unhurt. Neither child was using safety equipment.
The accident happened about 12:17 p.m.
The names of the children were not released because of their age.
There was no damage to the vehicle.
