Steven Calvin King, 64, of Perryville, Missouri passed away Monday, June 30, 2025 at his residence.
Steve was born in Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Cloyce and Mary (Prater) King on January 11, 1961, he was 64 years old. He attended Bernie High School and Southeast Missouri State University getting a BS degree in Agriculture and went on to University of Missouri at Columbia where he received his Agriculture Education certification and Masters in Education. He started his teaching career at Charleston R-1 School in Charleston, Missouri. In 1997 he accepted the Agriculture Instructor position at Perry County Dist. 32 and becoming the Director of the Perryville Area Career and Technology Center until retiring in 2014.
Steve and Julie Ochs were married at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lithium, Missouri on May 21, 1983. He is survived by his wife Julie and daughters Natalie and Emily (Justin) Carlsen. Brothers Danny (Becky) King of Dexter, Missouri and Ricky (Leah) King of Bernie, Missouri. He loved his nephews Dustin (Krystle) Ochs, Daniel (Amber) Ochs, Derrek (Alyssa) Ochs of Perryville, Missouri and Jeffrey King and Michael King of Bernie Missouri and great nephews and nieces.
Steve was always helping others. While in education he was the advisor to the Perry County Young Farmers and active in the Southeast Missouri Agriculture Instructors group.
He enjoyed taking his students to district, state and national FFA conventions and contests. Steve also co-owned Steve and Julie’s Greenhouse with his wife. While his daughters were on the Perryville Piranhas Swim Team he assisted with coaching swimmers and officiating at swim meets. Steve enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, gardening and hiking with his “girls”. He enjoyed trips to see his daughters and finding places to go while visiting them.
After retiring from education Steve assumed the position of manager and sales at Davis Farm Supplies in Jackson, Missouri. Where he was employed at the time of his death.
In lieu of flowers and gifts the family requests donations be made to the Charleston Danforth and Perryville FFA chapters or the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville and will continue from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at the funeral home. The rosary will recited at 8:30 am.
Memorial Service will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville with Deacon Direk Hunt officiating.
