A memorial service will be held Monday, January 12, 2026 for 48-year-old Stephanie Mequella Tucker, of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 5:26 pm, Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Carbondale, Illinois.
She was born November 21, 1977 in El Dorado, Kansas to the late Rickey Requena and Nola (nee Steward) Monti who survives in Portage, Indiana.
Stephanie married Ronald Tucker on September 19, 2009 in Chester, Illinois; he survives in Chester.
She is also survived by her mother in law: Debra Gretzmacher of Chester, IL; six siblings: Rickey Requena of New York, Jessica Requena of Chester, IL, Latisha Requena of St. Louis, MO, Patricia Requena Jaco of Oak Ridge, MO, Sean Musgrave of St. Louis, MO and Colby (Richard) Brockmire of Cape Girardeau, MO; two sisters-in-law: Yvonne (Shawn) Seymour of Chester, IL and Ashley Tucker of Chester, IL and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Perry and Dorothy Steward, paternal grandparents: Theodore and Wilma Requena; her father-in-law: Ronald E. Tucker, Sr., her maternal grandparents-in-law: Donald and Irene McCormick and paternal grandparents-in-law: Irving and Lura Tucker.
She was an at-home daycare provider.
Stephanie loved taking care of her daycare children. She also enjoyed music, movies and getting her hair and nails done. Stephanie also donated to several charities for children’s hospitals.
It was Stephanie’s wish to be cremated.
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2026 at the Home of My Ekklesia Church, 619 State Street, Chester, Illinois 62233.
