STE. GENEVIEVE – The calendar year has just begun and the Ste. Genevieve sales tax receipts are down by around $18,000 according to the deposit notices provided city hall by the Missouri Department of Revenue.
The city tax is down $9,855.79, the public mass transportation tax and the capital improvements tax are each down about $5,045.
In January, the city tax brought in $52,536.80, while the public mass transportation and capital improvements taxes each brought in about $24,288.
This is the second straight year that those three sales taxes were down in January. In 2025, the city tax was down nearly $4,607 and the public mass transportation and capital improvements taxes were each down around $3,513.
The only tax showing an increase in the first month of the year is the consolidated city use tax, which is up $1,946.81. That leaves the city with a net loss of around $18,000.
In January 2025, the consolidated city use tax was down $27,482 compared to January 2024.
