STE. GENEVIEVE – The draft minutes of the Regular Open Session Meeting of the Ste. Genevieve County School District R-II held Tuesday, February 17, 2026, have been released.

  2. Call to Order A quorum being present and due notice having been published, the regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Ste. Genevieve County R-II School District was called to order on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 6:30 PM by President Mr. Eric Basler.

  4. New Board Member Oath of Office

            Board Secretary Mrs. Geralyn Diesel administered the Oath of Office to Mr. Philip Kwan, who    was appointed to the Board at the January 20, 2026 Regular (Open) Session meeting.

  1. Approval of the Agenda

            Motion to approve the Agenda of the February 17, 2026 Regular (Open) Session Meeting.             Motion made by: Mr. James Kirchner Motion seconded by: Mr. Joshua Gettinger Voting:             Unanimously Approved

  1. MSBA MONTHLY REPORT

            The February 2026 Board Report took a look at Senate Bill 3 and what these potential property    tax reforms could mean for school districts. Plus, information about MSBA’s upcoming events           and details on School Board Recognition Month. The MSBA Board Report is a short monthly            video featuring the latest news from MSBA and about public education in Missouri. The          program is designed to be shown during local school board meetings.

There were no Public Comment Forms submitted to speak during Public Participation.

  1. REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT
  2. Notes of Appreciation Superintendent Dr. Paul Taylor shared notes of appreciation from a staff member, which were included in the Board members’ packets.
  3. Annual School Board Election The Ste. Genevieve R-II School District has completed candidate filing for the District’s Board of Directors. In accordance with § 115.124, RSMo., no election will be held because the number of candidates who filed is equal to the number of open            positions. The following candidates will be sworn into office at the School Board’s    reorganization meeting: Martha Resinger, Eric Basler, and James Kirchner.
  4. Kindergarten Registration – 2026–2027 School Year Kindergarten Registration will be held at the locations and times listed below. Please contact your elementary office beginning Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, after 9 a.m. to schedule appointments. To be admitted to kindergarten for            the 2026– 2027 school year, a child must turn five years of age prior to Aug. 1, 2026. Ste.           Genevieve Elementary: Saturday, March 14, 2026, starting at 8 a.m. (by appointment only) Call   573-883-4500 ext. 3 to schedule an appointment. Bloomsdale Elementary: Saturday, March     21, 2026, starting at 8 a.m. (by appointment only) Call 573-883-4500 ext. 4 to schedule an      appointment.
  5. Enrollment – Last Wednesday in January

            Dr. Taylor presented data, including historical figures, on the District’s enrollment reporting for   the last Wednesday in January.

  1. Principal Reports Dr. Bethany Koetting, Dr. Nanya Gegg, and Dr. Scott Mercer presented updates on activities and accomplishments at their respective buildings. Dr. John Boyd shared      brief high school highlights and then invited a student to report on high school activities.
  2. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
  3. Prop SG Updates

            Dr. Taylor updated the Board on the ongoing progress and timeline of the wrestling facility             project associated with Prop SG.

  1. Instructional Program Presentation – High School Industrial Arts

            Faculty members Mr. Chris Thompson & Mr. Kenny Rapp reported on the high school     Industrial Arts instructional programs.

  1. 2026-27 Proposed School Calendar

            Motion to approve the 2026-27 school calendar as    presented. Motion made by: Mr. Joshua             Gettinger Motion seconded by: Mr. Philip Kwan Voting: Unanimously Approved

  2. Addition of Special Education Teachers

            Motion to approve the addition of three Special Education teacher positions for the district as             presented, effective for the 2026-27 school year. Motion made by: Mrs. Jamie Ballew Motion             seconded by: Mrs. Martha Resinger Voting: Unanimously Approved

  1. Addition of Special Education Paraprofessionals

            Motion to approve the addition of three Special Education Paraprofessional positions for the             district as presented, effective for the 2026-27 school year. Motion made by: Geri Diesel Motion             seconded by: Mr. Joshua Gettinger Voting: Unanimously Approved
