Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park continues celebration of America’s 250th Birthday

STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. — Celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence at Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park.

This year, Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park is bringing the 250th commemoration to the local community through special events and a new exhibit.

August 8th and 9th, the park will host Celebrate America.

The event will coincide with Ste. Genevieve’s annual Jour de Fête celebration and feature live performances and hands-on activities. Anyone interested in volunteering to assist with the event can visit go.nps.gov/stge-vip for more information or apply at volunteer.gov.

During the event, each activity will provide an opportunity to connect to the ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Community members will create, reflect, and explore together through voice recordings, a community mural, and a community tapestry.

In addition to the event, an exhibit titled “You 250” is currently being installed at the Ste. Genevieve Welcome Center. The exhibit captures how the community is experiencing this milestone in our nation’s history by featuring responses gathered during each Celebrate America activity.

Both the Celebrate America event and You 250 exhibit are made possible through Blue Sky Grant funding provided by Jefferson National Parks Association (JNPA). JNPA is a non-profit partner supporting interpretive and educational programming at parks and historic sites including Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park. www.nps.gov
