Ste. Genevieve Demos hold food drive

STE. GENEVIEVE – At its August meeting, the Ste. Genevieve County Democratic Club collected over 150 of the most needed food items for the Bloomsdale St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.

Pictured left to right are Genny Pfaff, Jean Johnson and Judy Thomas. All three are volunteers at the food pantry and club members.

They thanked the club and described how need has increased since they are serving more families recently while their government assistance has decreased significantly.

They are now using funds that were previously used to assist with transportation costs or utility bills to purchase food.

The Ste. Genevieve County Democratic Club meets the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm at the Steelworkers Union Hall (950 S. Gabouri).

Each month, members suggest a local organization that could benefit from club members’ generosity.

Next month the club will collect donations to assist with transportation costs for Common Grounds Coffee Shop employees. Meetings are open to all.
