STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve County Democratic Club recently contributed $1000 to local students to assist with furthering their education. Each local high school gave out $250 scholarships from the club.

Those recipients are Lexi Warren from Ste. Genevieve High School and Joshua Fallert from Valle Catholic High School.
The $500 club scholarship is open to anyone pursuing further education beyond high school, including trade schools and advanced degrees. Applicants must be sponsored by a club member and compose an essay as part of the application process.
This year, the scholarship committee selected Meagan Huck, who is studying Teacher Leadership at Southeast Missouri State University while teaching full time. Meagan was sponsored by club member Allen Roth and attended the club’s May meeting to accept her check and read her essay on the two part question: “The Democratic Party emphasizes values like equity, inclusion, and social justice. Which of these values resonates most with you, and how have you demonstrated it in your life? What role do you think young people should play in shaping the future of democracy?”
