STE, GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen met Thursday for an open session followed by a work session.
Aldermen Robert Donovan and Joseph “Joe” Prince did not attend the meeting.
City Administrator David Bova presented his report.
-Bauman is scheduled to begin work on Prop S Phase II asphalt streets the week of June 22, weather permitting.
-Jokerst is close to finishing the first part of the water line on the northern half of LaHaye.
-City offices will be closed June 19th for Juneteenth federal holiday.
-The city’s assessment for FY 2027 insurance was around $17,000 less than last year.
-A short survey on solid waste services has been posted to the city’s website, Facebook page and sent out via the text subscription service. One or two solid waste management companies will be in attendance at a future meeting to discuss solid waste management with the board.
-The Rotary Club is proposing a project at no cost to the city involving construction of a Veterans Memorial area in front of city hall near the flagpole.

-Ernie Kovac expressed concern about a lack of truck routes in the city and county and heavy trucks crossing bridges in the city.
Consent Agenda was approved.:
Resolution 2026-37 was approved. It declares certain items of city police department property to be surplus to the needs of the city.
Resolution 2026-38 was approved. It renews the city insurance policy brokered by Lakenan Insurance Agency with Missouri Intergovernmental Risk Management Association Company to provide property and casualty insurance and cyber liability insurance.
Resolution 2026-39 was approved. It enters the city into an insurance contract brokered through Lakenan Insurance Agency with Houston Casualty Tokio Marine, HCC Company to provide cyber liability insurance.
Street closure request for the Rural Heritage Event Saturday, October 24 was approved. Second Street will be closed from Market to Merchant Streets from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Street closure request for the re-enactment of federal troops removing monies from the Bank of Ste. Genevieve in 1861 on Saturday, August 22. The closure will include Main Street at Market heading north, Main Street just before the entrance to Audubon’s parking lot and Merchant Street from at the east end of Audubon’s beer garden from 10 a.m. to noon.

Bill No. 4727, second reading of a measure adjusting water use rates passed 6 yes, 0 no, 2 absent.
Bill No. 4728, second reading of a measure adjusting sewer use rates, passed 6 yes, 0 no, 2 absent.
Bill No. 4729, second reading of a budget amendment passed 6 yes, 0 no, 2 absent.
Bill No. 4730, second reading of a $65,454 agreement with Jokerst Inc for the Crestlawn Cemetery Expansion passed 6 yes, 0 no, 2 absent.
New Business:
Bill No. 4731, a broker agreement with Lakenan Insurance was given first reading approval on a voice vote.
Following the regular meeting, the aldermen met for an open work session to discuss the Aldermanic Budget Questionnaire and a Memorial Cemetery agreement with Foundation for Restoration.
