Ste. Gen Board of Aldermen gives first round approval to housing development

STE. GENEVIEVE –The Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen has given first round approval on a voice vote to a purchase agreement with McBride Land Growth LLC as the developer of a 154-house residential subdivision on 49 acres of city-owned land bordering Progress Parkway. Under the agreement McBride will pay the city $1 million for the land and then develop it into a residental development which will be served by extensions of Parkwood and Basler Drive. The development will also include a street connecting Parkwood and Basler within the development and two streets with cul-de-sacs.

The agreements will face a second and final vote of the aldermen at the next board meeting.

In other business at Thursday’s meeting:

The aldermen were in agreement with a request from Brian Gray, owner of Gaslight Ghost Stories for permission to include the Memorial Cemetery in his tours. The Foundation for Resotration of Ste. Genevieve, which maintains the cemetery indicated its support as well.

The aldermen approved a street closure request from Briz Urban Winery for First Annual Fly with the Hive Festival Saturday, June 28.  The closure will include Merchant Street from Main to Third Streets from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The board approved a street closure request from the Felix Valle House State Historic Site for the Rural Heritage Event October 25th. Second Street will be closed from Market to Merchant Streets from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The board gave final approval to a budget amendment for the FY 2025 budget.
