STARS students participate in team-building with the U.S. Army

STE. GENEVIEVE –  The Ste. Genevieve School District R-II STARS students took part in a hands-on team-building session in the new middle school gym recently.

The students were guided by Army Staff Sergeant Darrel W. Oard and PFC Thomas Desiree.

The event focused on communication, problem-solving, and collaboration—skills essential for both leadership and personal growth.

During the session, students were divided into two groups and challenged to complete large puzzles.

To finish successfully, teams had to exchange pieces with one another, encouraging clear communication and shared strategy.

In another activity, students constructed a “spiderweb” using PVC pipes and joints, following multi-step directions and working together to build a stable structure.

The activities offered students a meaningful opportunity to strengthen teamwork and practice problem-solving alongside Army personnel.

The school district extends its appreciation to Staff Sergeant Oard and PFC Desiree for spending time with the STARS program and supporting student development!
