- Be it Remembered: A regular meeting of the St. Mary Board of Aldermen was called to order by the Honorable Mayor Adam Bequette on Thursday, October 23, 2025 beginning at 6:00 PM at City Hall located at 782 3rd Street, St. Mary, Missouri 63673.
- Pledge of Allegiance: The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.
- Roll Call: Aldermen answering the roll call were Alderman Rose Rosenzweig, Alderman Dr. Zen Duda, and Alderman Kathy Bergmann .
- Approval of Agenda: Motion to amend agenda as printed by Alderman Duda, second Alderman Bergmann, all in favor Alderman Bergmann (aye), Alderman Rosenzwieg (aye), Alderman Duda (aye), motion carried
- Consent Agenda: motion to approve by Alderman Duda, second by Alderman Kathy Bergmann. Alderman Duda (aye), Alderman Bergmann (aye), and Alderman Rosenzweig (aye), motion carried.

- City Clerk to pay previously appropriate expenses as they come due as allied by budget.
- Public Forum: NONE
- Unfinished Business:
- Discussion regarding bid from Jokerst Paving for the repair of Cedar & Third Street.
- Board of Alderman requested that Mayor Bequette make arrangements for Jokerst Paving come and talk to the Board.
- Alderman advised the City should start saving money for this project.
- Alderman advised that traffic should be restricted and labeled for local traffic only.
- A written complaint was received regarding dogs at large, destruction of property by the dogs. A letter will be sent to the resident regarding this issue and Alderman Rosenzweig will contact Deputy Barton with the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Department with this concern.
- Open water invoice for 838 Spruce, Board of Alderman were notified the owner of this property is making an effort to pay the invoice in full in the next month. A request was made by Mayor Bequette to City Clerk, Jessica Gunter, to ask the owner about lawn care.
- City Clerk, Jessica Gunter informed the Board of Alderman and the public that water bills were estimated for this month due to meter reading equipment failure.
- New Business:
- Public informed of the purchase of a new salt spreader in the amount of $4699.00 from Caldwell Outdoor Equipment.
- Bond Issue for the City of St. Mary Wastewater for the April Ballot. Heartland Engineering to hold a town hall meeting to explain to the public the specifics.
- Department Reports:
Emergency Management – Mayor Adam Bequette – continues to work with FEMA, doing on line classes, flood mitigation. Due to government shut down FEMA work has slowed down, the city has been allocated a new point of contact.
Police Department – Alderman Zen Duda – Nothing to report
Street Department – Alderman Zen Duda – Employees have been working hard to clean up debris and high weeds along city streets. Jokerst Paving presented a bid to Mayor Bequette for the work at Cedar and Third.
Water/Wastewater Department- Mayor Adam Bequette – Employees are been organizing and cleaning sewer plant. Eric Doty reports the plant is running efficiently at this time. 2 grinders were replaced this month. Mayor Bequette, Frankie Ullman, and Eric Doty have been doing E-1 training to be become certified to do warranty work on E-1 pumps.
Park & Cemetery Department – Alderman Rosenzwieg – Cemetery looks good, mowing and weed eating being kept up with, employees doing well keeping up with maintenance. Alderman Rosenzweig expressed concern about a tree that needs taken down in the park, Alderman Duda is aware and will be taking down the tree.
- Additional issues that may come before the Board – Signs to be placed at the cemetery gate regarding hours of operation. Gates will remain unlocked for visitors to the cemetery. Trash receptacles are provided. Resident notified Mayor Bequette regarding the destruction of a cross in the cemetery. Mayor Bequette will stay in contact with this resident and/or family members to rectify this issue.
- Citizen Participation addressed by the Chairman of the Board – Citizen Connie Pritchard asked why the Chamber of Commerce was not helping the City. Alderman Duda responded by stating the Chamber of Commerce has a unique structure, communication between the City and the Chamber is limited.
Citizen at 1050 Third Street requested his meter be checked for proper function, due to he considered water bill to be high and they were not at home 2 weeks of the last billing cycle.
