JEFFERSON CITY — A 59-year-old St. Louis man suffered moderate injuries when the 2023 International tractor trailer he was driving south on I-55 ran off the left side of the roadway, the driver over-corrected and the truck began skidding, came back onto the roadway went off the left side of the roadway again, this time striking the median cable, it again returned to the roadway and overturned onto its left side and then slid a distance on its left side before coming to a stop completely blocking both southbound lanes of the interstate.

The driver was taken to Mercy Hospital Jefferson by a Ste. Genevieve County ambulance after two medical helicopter services declined because of weather.

The crash happened about 6:22 a.m. at the 157.8 mile marker just south of the Bloomsdale overpass. Southbound traffic was diverted onto Route Y and Highway 61 and then allowed to return to the interstate at Route O.
