SPARTA – Sparta Community Hospital is expanding access to primary care for families in the Trico and Steeleville areas through enhanced Mobile Health Clinic services at Trico, paired with continued, reliable clinic hours in Steeleville. This expansion reflects the hospital’s commitment to Believe in Better by making care more accessible, more convenient, and closer to home.
At Trico Community Unit School District, Physician Assistants Karen Chamness and Danielle Scott now provide care in the Mobile Health Clinic every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday morning from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., increasing access to timely primary care for students, families, and community members.
Chamness and Scott also continue seeing patients at the Steeleville Clinic, where they join Dr. Mark Preuss in offering scheduled appointments and comprehensive primary care services.
“The Steeleville Clinic has served families for more than 30 years, and as the very first clinic under the Sparta Community Hospital District umbrella, it has always played an important role in our organization,” said Joann Emge, CEO. “By expanding those same physician assistants the 14 miles to Trico, we are increasing capacity and appointment availability, giving patients the flexibility to experience continuity of care across both locations—based on what works best for their schedule.”
Outside of Trico, Physician Assistants Danielle Scott and Caylee Jarrett provide care through the Mobile Health Clinic at additional community locations throughout the week, ensuring continuity and expanded access across the region.
A key component of this expansion is the addition of regular Mobile Health Clinic services in Tilden. The Mobile Health Clinic is now serving the Tilden community all day on Mondays at the Tilden Post Office, marking a significant milestone for an area the hospital has long hoped to serve more consistently. This addition strengthens access for residents and allows the hospital to better meet the needs of families within the Sparta School District.
With the addition of Tilden, Mobile Health Clinic services now operate within the Sparta School District three mornings per week before school, serving Evansville, Sparta, and Tilden, as well as two afternoon locations, one in Sparta and one in Tilden. This expanded schedule is designed to better align care with school-day routines and family schedules.
The Mobile Health Clinic continues serving communities throughout the region on the following schedule:
- Mondays: Tilden Post Office (all day)
- Tuesdays: Sparta Lincoln (morning) and New Athens (afternoon)
- Wednesdays: Evansville Attendance Center (morning) and Sparta Lincoln (afternoon)
- Thursdays: Oakdale (morning) and Sparta Addington Place (afternoon)
