SHANE MICHAEL SHANNON, 49, of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois, passed away at 12:23 am, Saturday, October 24, 2026, Prairie du Rocher, Illinois.
He was born to the late Albert and Donna (nee Boettcher) Shannon on February 21, 1977, in Paris, Illinois.
Known to many of his friends as “Bam Bam,” Shane was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, and spend hours walking through woods and fields searching for arrowheads, building a remarkable collection over the years. He delighted in sharing his passion for the outdoors with family and friends. A true friend to all, Shane never met a stranger. If you walked into a local bar, you could usually find him with a pool stick in hand; he loved playing pool with his uncles and brother and competed in several leagues.
Shane was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He adored being around children and loved his own kids fiercely. Known for his playful spirit, he loved to tease, joke, and pick on people. All of his nieces and nephews share fond memories of being poked, tickled, or wrestled until they screamed for mercy—only to run right back for more.
A 1995 graduate of Red Bud High School, Shane was a natural handyman who could fix just about anything, and you would often find him working on things in the yard.
Shane is survived by his mother – Donna, his two sons – Bradley Ruch and Ashton Shannon, his daughter – Abbey Shannon, his five siblings – Willie Bogle, Scott Shannon, Stacy Shannon, Corey (Christina) Shannon, and Chaela (Nathan) Kinney, his ten nieces & nephews – Nick, Cody, Abigail, Bradyne, Byn, Lucas, Ethan, Jack, Carly, and Will; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and several close friends.
Shane is preceded in death by his father – Albert, 1 Nephew – Blayne; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
