SGHS senior competes in national speech and debate competition

STE. GENEVIEVE — For the first time in Ste. Genevieve High School history, a member of the Speech and Debate team competed at the national level.

Senior Bennett Walls capped off an impressive season by representing SGHS at the National Catholic Forensics League Championships in Chicago last month. He also made history earlier in the year by becoming the first SGHS student to advance to the final round at the MSHSAA State Championship, held in Springfield, Missouri.

At nationals, Bennett stood out among tough competition, earning scores of fourth place or higher in several of his rounds. His performances consistently showcased his talent, determination, and poise on a competitive stage.

Bennett’s accomplishments this year have set a new standard for the program and left a lasting legacy at SGHS. Now that he is an SGHS graduate, he leaves big shoes to fill—but an inspiring path for future team members to follow.
