Senior Property Tax Freeze information is released

ST. MARY – The city of St Mary has released information on the SENIOR PROPERTY TAX FREEZE (SB 190) which it says it received from the Ste. Genevieve County Assessor’s Office.

According to the news release:

  • Ste Genevieve County has adopted an ordinance in compliance with SB 190, regarding the Senior Property Tax Freeze.
  • The current tax year, 2025, will be the base year.  Taxes, NOT VALUE, will be frozen on your principal residence and residential homesite, unless new construction is noted.
  • Applications will be available beginning February 1, 2026, through June 30, 2026.
  • Applications can be picked up at the County Courthouse, Room 3, in the Recorder of Deeds Office.
  • The application can also be printed off by visiting the County website at stegencounty.gov
