STE. GENEVIEVE — Luke Ferranto is Ste. Genevieve High School’s Elks Student of the Month for May.

Luke is the son of Beth and Tony Ferranto.
Luke’s scholastic honors include ranking eighth in his graduating class; placing in the top 10 percent of his class his senior year; and earning summa cum laude for three years and magna cum laude for one year. Luke earned the following course awards: Broadcasting, Health, Personal Finance and Business. In 2024, he was recognized with the Parkland Area Writing Award.
Luke has been actively involved in numerous groups throughout his high school career, including French Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Freshman Mentors, Friends Club, Student Council and the A+ Program. In addition, Luke has been involved in the following community organizations: the American Legion Post 480 in Steeleville, Illinois; the American Legion Post 150 in Ste. Genevieve; and Boy Scouts. He has also dedicated time to serving his community through a variety of volunteer efforts, including VFW flag removal, Ste. Genevieve County Fair cleanup, Spring for Down Syndrome, the Impact Football Program, Flag Football League, church activities, Open Door Animal Sanctuary, Fourche Valley Rescue, assisting a disabled veteran and volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House in St. Louis.
Luke has been a member of several athletic teams throughout the years, including four years of varsity football, three years of varsity baseball, one year of varsity golf, City League Flag Football and Riverdogs Baseball. His athletic accomplishments include being named Pitcher of the Year for two years, earning All-Conference Baseball honors for three years, All-District Baseball honors for three years, and receiving All-State Pitcher honorable mention recognition for one year. He also earned All-Conference Football, All-District Football and All-Region Football honors. Academically, Luke was recognized as an All-State Academic Football selection for three years and an All-State Academic Baseball selection for three years. He also set a school record with a 9-0 season as a pitcher and received several additional recognitions, including Applebee’s Player of the Game, Parkland Athlete of the Week (twice), Pettus Player of the Week, KFMO Player of the Game, MidAmerica Player of the Game and Athlete of the Week.
Luke is employed as a server at Audubon’s Restaurant. In his free time, he enjoys golfing and fishing. Luke plans to attend Culver Stockton in Canton, Missouri, where he received both the Pillar Academic and Athletic scholarships, and where he will study physical therapy and rehabilitation science.
