Schools Prepare to Launch Red Ribbon Week on Oct. 26

(Ste. Genevieve, MO) – Red Ribbon Week will be held the week of Oct. 26 in Ste. Genevieve County! On Oct. 6, students from the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) gathered with Ste. Genevieve City Mayor Brian Keim, Officer Roark and Officer Teller to sign a Proclamation declaring Oct. 26 – 30 to be Red Ribbon Week in Ste. Genevieve County! The theme this year is “Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free.”

Throughout the week, teachers will share lessons and discussions provided through Red Ribbon Week resources to make connections with the week’s programming. Third grade, elementary and preschools and daycares will experience presentations from the Ste. Genevieve Police Department and the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office, as well as meet our local K-9 units!

Ste. Genevieve County R-II schools will celebrate the theme through dress-up days, which were created by SGHS SADD students! Businesses and schools who would like to participate can see the list of dress-up days below!

  • Monday: Pawsitively Drug-Free — Wear animal prints
  • Tuesday: Dream Big— Stay Drug Free — Wear Pajamas
  • Wednesday: Wear Red to Recognize Red Ribbon Week — Wear Red (Community-wide)
  • Thursday: Be a Hero, Stay Drug Free — Dress as a Superhero
  • Friday: Team up for Smart Choices — Wear your team’s colors

On Wednesday, we encourage our community members to join in and wear red to show that we are one community with one goal of supporting a drug-free community. Local businesses and organizations are also invited to wear red ribbons with our students and staff throughout the week.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Lhoist, which volunteered to serve as a sponsor for this year’s Red Ribbon Week activities, as well as the many local businesses and organizations that continue to support Red Ribbon Week and its message throughout our community.
