Rural Power Coalition releases comprehensive toolkit and launches national training series to support rural electric co-op member-owners

COLUMBIA, MO – Renew Missouri, a proud member of the Rural Power Coalition (RPC), announces the release of new national resources designed to support rural electric cooperative member-owners as they navigate rising energy costs and evolving energy challenges.

RPC is made up of nearly two dozen rural, place-based organizations across the country that educate and advocate for rural electric cooperatives, rural communities, and a modernized, equitable energy system.

This month, RPC released a new 98-page Electric Cooperative Organizing Toolkit, designed to empower rural residents concerned about energy affordability, reliability, and sustainability. The toolkit provides clear, accessible guidance on how electric cooperatives operate and how member-owners can effectively participate in shaping local energy decisions.

The toolkit covers the fundamentals of cooperative governance, practical steps for engaging with local co-ops, and examples of programs and projects that communities can pursue to increase affordability and resilience.

In addition to the toolkit, RPC will host a free, four-week virtual training series, titled Power to the People, beginning January 22, to help rural residents put the toolkit’s guidance into action. The series is designed for both first-time participants and experienced organizers seeking to strengthen their co-op engagement strategy.

Training Schedule
January 22: Organizing For Energy Affordability & Resiliency
