PERRYVILLE – The Missouri side of the River Region has had good air quality so far in 2025 with the first official day of summer nearing.
Southeast Missouri Regional Planning Comission Executive Director Jeremy Tanz reported the figures this week.
“We have hit the halfway point of June with the first official day of summer at the end of the week. With this in mind, the ozone air quality for the region has been good so far. As of June 15th, there has only been one exceedance recorded in the State with a 72 recorded in Liberty, MO in the Kansas City area on June 10th. Locally on our two ozone monitors in the SEMO RPC region, our highest readings for the year have been 61 in Bonne Terre and 59 in Farrar. Looking at the AQI calendars, there have been very few days that have moved out of the good air quality zone, and of those that have, none have gone above the lower moderate zone.”
However, Tanz also noted that weather forecasts are starting to show higher temps which helps create increased ozone conditions.
Tanz included in his report, the following measurements and study:
Air Quality Index for May
Air Quality Index for June
Air Quality Analysis for Ozone
