JEFFERSON CITY – In a vote of 32-0, the Senate unanimously advanced SB 907, which will provide much-needed relief from lawsuit abuse for Main Street Missourians.
In a statement, NFIB State Director Brad Jones thanked the Missouri General Assembly for standing up for small businesses.
“Small business owners have found themselves the target of abusive and frivolous lawsuits that make a mockery of the Americans With Disabilities Act,” Jones said. “Predatory trial attorneys demanded thousands of dollars in settlements, leaving Main Street scrambling to avoid mounting costs. SB 907 is a commonsense guardrail that will allow small business owners the opportunity to resolve alleged issues with their websites before settling. On behalf of our members, we thank the General Assembly for standing up for the Missouri small business community.”

Last week, The Kansas City Star published an op-ed from Jones urging the Senate to quickly advance SB 907. This comes after NFIB released new paid radio advertisements, urging the General Assembly to protect small businesses.
In February, the Missouri House unanimously advanced a reform to safeguard small businesses from lawsuit abuse.
