MSHP reports two traffic crashes injured three persons

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports two traffic crashes in the 5 o’clock hour Tuesday afternoon.

 

The first crash happened about 5:05 p.m. on Highway 61 in Cape Girardeau County.

 

An eight-year-old girl was the only one hurt in the accident. She had minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

 

The patrol says the girl was a restrained passenger in a northbound 2017 GMC Terrain which was driven by a 70-year-old Oak Ridge woman which was struck by a northbound 2010 Ford Fusion driven   by a 17-year-old Jackson boy which had failed to yield to a traffic signal. The crash happened on Highway 61 one mile south of Fruitland. The drivers of the two vehicles were not injuried.

 

The crash happened about 5:05 p.m.

 

The Terrain had moderate damage and the Fusion was a total loss. Both vehicles were towed by Cape County Towing.

 

A three-vehicle crash on I-55 in Cape Girardeau County sent two persons – a 28-year-old Jackson man and a 32-year-old Cape Girardeau man each with minor injuries – to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash happened when a northbound 2005 GMC Sierra driven by the Jackson man struck the rear of a northbound 2002 Toyota Camry driven by the Cape Girardeau man and then struck a northbound 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by a 46-year-old Perryville woman. She was not injured. All three persons were buckled up.

 

The Sierra and the Camry were total losses. The Santa Fe had extensive damage. All three were towed by Cape County Towing.

 

The crash happened one mile south of Fruitland.
