Mizzou college football player diesafter medical emergency during game

Tragedy struck the college football world on Saturday as a college running back suffered a medical emergency shortly after scoring a touchdown.

MicahJo Barnett of William Jewell College (Liberty, Mo.) ran for a 1-yard touchdown in the first quarter of Saturday’s game against Fort Lewis College. Shortly after, the game was halted when he suffered a medical emergency on the sideline, per Bleacher Report.

Barnett, who starred at Liberty North in high school, was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. William Jewell announced it would hold a vigil Saturday night at 8 p.m.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Micah Jo’s family, our students, the Cardinal Football family, and the rest of our community during this time of loss,” the university wrote in an official statement.
