Missouri Conservation Commission Action – December Meeting

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Conservation Commission met Dec. 11 for a closed executive session and Dec. 12 for its regular open meeting, all at Commission Headquarters, 2901 W. Truman Blvd. in Jefferson City. Commissioners attending the open meeting were:

  • Director’s Comments — Jason Sumners, Director
  • Turkey program update and recommendations to establish season dates and limits for the 2026 spring turkey season and associated conservation area and managed hunt regulations — Nicholas Oakley, Scientist
  • Recommendations to set season dates for each portion of the 2026-2027 firearms deer hunting seasons and recommendations to modify CWD-related regulations — Jason Isabelle, Cervid Program Supervisor
  • Financial Report and October 2025 Highlights — Andrew Bond, Deputy Director Business and Operations
  • CEBP Updates: Quarterly Report — Tom Neubauer, Human Resources Branch Chief and CEBP Chair
  • Recognition of Dr. Daniel Dey as a Master Conservationist — Laura Conlee, Deputy Director

 

ADMINISTRATION

 

The Commission:

  • Approved items on the Consent Calendar.
  • Approved recommendations to establish season dates and limits for the 2026 spring turkey season and associated conservation area and managed hunt regulations.
  • Approved recommendations of season dates for each portion of the 2026-2027 firearms deer hunting seasons and gave initial approval to recommendations to modify CWD-related regulations.
  • Approved the construction bid for the Whetstone Creek Conservation Area Big Lake Dam Repair project located near Williamsburg, Missouri.
  • Approved the construction bid for the Northeast Regional Office Windows and Skylight replacement project located in Kirksville, Missouri.
  • Approved the donation to MDC of approximately 44.02 acres in Stone County from the estate of Georgia G. Rice.
  • Approved the advertisement and sale of an estimated 1,924,998 board feet of timber from 925 acres of Angeline Conservation Area, Compartment 14 in Shannon County.
  • Approved the suspension or revocation of one or more hunting, fishing, or trapping privileges of four individuals for cause or court order:
    1. Skipper R. Craigg, Madison, Hunting, 3 Years;
    2. Joseph P. Guthrie, Cuba, Hunting, 1 Year;
    3. Michael K. O’Neail, De Soto, Hunting, 1 Year; and
    4. Connor S. West, Golden City, Hunting, 1 Year.
  • Approved the suspension of commercial fishing privileges for Terry Duty.
  • Set the next open meeting for Feb. 6, 2026.
