JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Community College Association (MCCA) held its 61st Annual Convention and Tradeshow Nov. 12–14 in St. Charles, marking the largest gathering in the event’s history. The three-day convention brought together community college professionals from across Missouri for learning, collaboration and celebration.
This year’s theme, “Learning, Leadership & Legacy,” set the tone for 70 educational sessions across tracks focused on enrollment, retention, teaching and learning, workforce development, accreditation, strategic planning, and emerging issues in higher education.
The convention also included extensive pre-convention business meetings, networking receptions and a bustling tradeshow supported by year-round partners and sponsors.
A major highlight was the keynote address from Dr. Hod Lipson, a leading AI and robotics expert and Chair of Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University. Dr. Lipson’s talk explored the rapid acceleration of artificial intelligence and its implications for society, the workforce and higher education.
“Our keynote speaker offered a compelling look at where AI is heading and what it means for our students,” said Brian Millner, MCCA president and CEO. “It’s critical that community colleges stay ahead of these shifts, and this year’s sessions reflected that commitment.”
The convention once again showcased the MCCA Recognition and Excellence Awards, honoring outstanding faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, partners and innovators from Missouri’s community colleges. Award categories included the Award of Distinction, Distinguished Alumni, Community College Partner Award, Trustee Leadership Award, Distinguished Legislator Award, the MCCA Hall of Fame and multiple finalist groups across teaching, adjunct excellence, innovation and classified staff achievement.
Attendees also enjoyed the return of the MCCA Games, bringing spirited competition and camaraderie as colleges faced off in friendly challenges.
“Our annual convention continues to grow because our members bring unmatched energy, expertise and dedication,” said Cliff Judy, MCCA’s director of professional development and member engagement. “This year’s turnout reflects the strength of Missouri’s community college community.”
MCCA’s 62nd Annual Convention and Tradeshow will be held Nov. 4–6, 2026, at the Branson Convention Center.
