A funeral will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022 for 87-year-old Melvin Edward Bachmann, who passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022.
Survived by his beloved siblings Janet Feltz and Calvin (Lorna) Bachmann; loving father of Becky (Deacon Dan) Donnelly, Bret Bachmann, Bruce (Phyllis) Bachmann, Tim (Kim) Bachmann, and Terry Bachmann; dear grandfather of Amy (Justin) Gilbert, Jenny (Drew) Kummer, Emily Bachmann (Cole Cantu), Amanda Bachmann, Jon Murphy, Chris Bachmann, Andrew (Stephanie) Bachmann, Ryan (Sheila) Bachmann and Chelsea Bachmann; dear great-grandfather of Claire, Lillian, and Violet Kummer, Cayden Cantu, DJ, Aiyanah, and Kaleah Bachmann, Avery and Darby Bachmann; and dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Mel was born and raised in Perryville. He moved to St. Louis after high school and started what turned out to be a long career as a printing press operator with Concordia Publishing House and Scholin Brothers Printing.
He was married to Shirley (Laurentius) also from Perryville and they raised five children. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling and watching Cardinal baseball (and football), Rams, and professional golf. A crossword puzzle was always nearby along with many books, with his favorite topic being World War II.
Preceded in death by his loving parents, Margaret (Valleroy) and Theodor Bachmann, his brother Robert Bachmann and great-grandson Clayton Cantu.
Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville, Mo.
A funeral for 87-year-old Melvin Edward Bachmann will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday September 10, 2022 at Ford & Young Funeral Home with Deacon Dan Donnelly officiating.
Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville, Mo.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to American Parkinson Disease Association of St. Louis (APDA).
