Mary A. Veach

A funeral will be held Saturday, February 14, 2026 for 81-year-old Mary A. Veach of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois, who passed away at 8:22 am, Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Three Springs Senior Living and Rehabilitation, Chester, Illinois.

She was born September 12, 1944 in Cottage Hill, Illinois to Walter Robert and Dolly Myrtle (nee Wheat) Hooten, who both preceded her in death.

Mary married Charles Paul Veach June 7, 1965, in Murphysboro, Illinois; he preceded her in death September 22, 2001.

She is survived by two children: Peggy (John) Pflasterer of Tilden, IL and Chuck (Becky) Veach of Marble Hill, MO; six siblings: Goldie Juelfs  of Red Bud, IL, Virginia Murray of Ridge Crest, CA, Curtis (Rose) Hooten of Fredericktown, MO, Kenny (Sandy) Hooten of Stillwater, OK; Bernice Herring of Prairie du Rocher, IL; Jim (Patty) Hooten of Steeleville, IL; a sister-in-law: Elizabeth “Betty” Hooten of Prairie du Rocher, IL; three grandchildren: Allie Pflasterer, C.J. (Montana) Veach, and Maverick Veach; four step grandchildren: Beth Daupert, Joanna (Michael) Meyer, Rose Pflasterer, and Katie (Marlon) Dominquez; two great grandchildren:  Johnna Pflasterer and Adelyna Mae Veach and step great grandchildren: Georgia and  Charli Daupert, Jonathon and Grayson Meyer, and Brooke and Logan Creamer; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many friends.

She was also preceded in death by: twin grandsons; J.C. and Mickel Pflasterer, a sister: Susie Wall, a  brother: Robert “Bob” Hooten, and an infant brother.

Mary had worked as a baker at the Adorers of the Blood of Christ Convent in Ruma, Illinois, for more than 10 years.

She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Renault, Illinois.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, February 20 and 9-11 a.m. Saturday, February 21 at the Pechacek Funeral Homes, Red Bud, Illinois

A funeral for 81-year-old Mary A. Veach of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the Pechacek Funeral Homes, Red Bud, Illinois. Officiating: Rev. James Stefanic

Interment will be in the Tilden Cemetery in Tilden, Illinois.
