JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Building on the success of last month’s Elder Abuse Awareness Forum in St. Charles, Lieutenant Governor David Wasinger today announced a statewide “Protect Our Seniors” Tour to bring attention to elder abuse prevention, connect families with resources, and hear directly from Missourians about the challenges they face. The St. Charles event featured family testimony and was attended by concerned citizens, patient rights advocates, and representatives from the Attorney General’s Office.
“Too often, our seniors are targeted by scammers, neglected by broken systems, or left without the resources they need,” said Lt. Governor Wasinger. “This tour is about putting seniors and their families first, listening to their concerns, and working with local leaders to deliver real solutions.”
Each stop will feature presentations from experts, opportunities to connect with local service providers, and listening sessions designed to shape future policy and enforcement priorities.
“As the state’s advocate for seniors, I take seriously my responsibility to fight for accountability and protect Missourians from abuse, fraud, and neglect,” Wasinger added. “Together, we can build a safer, stronger Missouri for every generation.”
State Senator Adam Schnelting, who hosted the St. Charles forum with Wasinger, said: “Elder abuse and neglect has always been an important issue to me. But when my own mother experienced it, it became even more personal. We can foster a culture of life for elderly Missourians and that’s what we aim to do. We won’t stop fighting for them.”
Stops on the “Protect Our Seniors” Tour include:
- September 15 — Franklin County
- September 26 — Christian County
- October 17 — Cape Girardeau County
- October 27 — Jefferson County
- November 5 — Jackson County
- November 17 — Mid-Missouri
Further details, including event locations and partner organizations, will be announced in the coming weeks. More information about the “Protect Our Seniors” Tour will be posted to the Lt. Governor’s official website at ltgov.mo.gov.
