Lorraine lived selflessly, teaching those around her that the highest reward in life is simply bringing joy to others.
She spent over 40 years at Hotel Ste. Genevieve, where she made many lifelong friends. Kind, caring, and attentive, she went above and beyond with every encounter.
When the Valle grade school established a new library, she volunteered to label and catalog the collection.
A fabulous cook, Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday. She prepared a feast for her family and invited guests who became part of her family for the day. To her, food was love, especially to those recipients of her renowned Lemon Poundcakes.
Lorraine cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, ensuring every single one felt uniquely loved. She filled their days with simple wonders: sunrise songs, homemade waffles, endless storybooks, games of cards and dominoes, and hours spent over jigsaw puzzles. Somehow, she could even make chores like cleaning out the pantry or digging potatoes fun!
One of her greatest joys was growing roses, a passion she shared with her husband, Jim. Their garden was featured on the local Garden Walk and even showcased in an article in the Post-Dispatch. Many were beneficiaries of their labor. Lorraine kept the tables at Hotel Ste. Genevieve filled with fresh roses all summer long and delivered arrangements to friends in hospitals and nursing homes until her health no longer allowed her to tend her garden.
Lorraine was extraordinarily generous, unfailingly kind, delightfully fun-loving, and deeply caring. She was a vibrant, irreplaceable light in the lives of her family and community and will be wonderfully remembered and sorely missed.
