Lieutenant Governor David Wasinger calls for nominations to the Missouri Veterans Hall of Fame

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Missouri Lieutenant Governor David Wasinger is calling on citizens across the state to help recognize veterans who have continued to serve their communities long after their military service ended. Nominations for the Missouri Veterans Hall of Fame (MVHOF) Class of 2026 are now open.

The MVHOF honors Missouri veterans who have made significant contributions to their communities, the state, and the nation. These individuals exemplify the very best of the Show-Me State, demonstrating that a commitment to service does not end when the uniform comes off. From the battlefield to our neighborhoods, these patriots continue to lead, build, and strengthen Missouri.

“We owe an immeasurable debt to the brave Missourians who stepped forward to defend our nation,” said Lt. Gov. Wasinger. “But their service did not end when they came home. They carried that same discipline, leadership, and courage into our communities as business owners, coaches, mentors, and civic leaders. It is our responsibility to recognize their lasting impact and ensure their stories are never forgotten.”

The Missouri Veterans Hall of Fame recognizes excellence in four areas:

Civic and Public Service – Veterans who have served in elected or appointed roles or made lasting contributions through public leadership.

Professional Distinction – Veterans who have achieved excellence in their careers, reflecting the strength of skills gained through military service.

Veteran Advocacy – Individuals dedicated to supporting fellow veterans through access to care, benefits, and resources.

Volunteerism – Veterans who quietly give back through mentorship, charitable work, and community service.

The selection process depends on nominations from across Missouri. Many deserving veterans do not seek recognition, but their impact is deeply felt in their communities. Whether it is a neighbor, colleague, or family member, your nomination helps ensure their service is honored and preserved in Missouri’s history.

Missourians are encouraged to submit nominations for the 2026 class by April 30, 2026. For nomination forms and details, visit: www.mvhof.wordpress.com Or search “Missouri Veterans Hall of Fame” on Facebook. Questions may be directed to: movhof@gmail.com or cstrom126@gmail.com

The 2026 Induction Ceremony will take place on October 30, 2026 in the Missouri State Capitol Rotunda. The event brings together state leaders, veterans, and citizens to honor the inductees. A permanent plaque, donated by the VFW in Sikeston, is displayed outside the Lieutenant Governor’s Office to commemorate those recognized and to serve as a lasting tribute to their service.

“Our veterans have given so much to our state and our nation,” Wasinger said. “This is our opportunity to ensure their legacy endures for generations to come.”
