Larry W. Koenig, 82, of Perryville, Missouri peacefully passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025, at The Lutheran Home with his family by his side, in Cape Girardeau, MO
He was born November 18, 1942 in Farrar, MO to John M. and Amanda (Lorenz) Koenig.
Larry and Catherine “Katy” Buchheit were married April 11, 1964 at Church of the Assumption in Perryville, MO. She survives him in Perryville, MO.
He served in the Missouri Army National Guard and was a member of the Western Catholic Union, American Legion Post #133 and the Perry County Sportsman’s Club.
Larry retired from Sabreliner Corporation where he worked for over 20 years as a master cabinetmaker for private and corporate jets. He previously was a skilled carpenter where he did general contracting. Larry enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and barbecuing. Other hobbies included traveling, woodworking, crossword puzzles, and cooking, especially making his delicious german potato salad. He enjoyed speaking german with his brothers and sisters. Larry was a private man and very proud of his family and his accomplishments.
Survivors include his wife, Katy Koenig; son, Alan P. (Linda) Koenig of Branson, MO; daughter, Dana L. Koenig of Festus, MO; sister, Jane Short of Cape Girardeau, MO; sister-in-law, Louise A. Jausel of Cape Girardeau, MO; two grandchildren, Kevin Koenig and Anna Koenig both of Branson, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Wilmer Koenig, Oliver Koenig, Marvin “Red” Koenig, Willis Koenig, Glennon “Pete” Koenig, Reuben Koenig; three sisters, Evelyn Zahner, Frances Koenig, Viola Guemmer.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville and will continue from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the funeral home.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville with Deacon Direk Hunt officiating.
Graveside Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #133 and Delta Team.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.
