Kevykev will be missed

Donze Communications staffer Paul Brown wrote this beautiful tribute…

This is a very difficult post to write.

We’ve been trying to put into words for awhile what’s been happening with KevyKev. We know that’s the number one question we get here, is what’s up with Kevin?

About 5 weeks ago, it seems Kevin contracted the West Nile virus. He had a fever he couldn’t get rid of, so, when his temperature spiked and stayed there, he was admitted to the hospital. His condition deteriorated and it became obvious after a while, he was not going to get better again.

Despite the hard work put in by the doctors and nurses, he didn’t wake up. And today, they will disconnect all of the things keeping him alive.

For this small staff, this has been one of the most brutal things we have ever been through. Kevin basically built this station in the basement of his house and is responsible for ALL of the technical aspects of the station. That’s why we’ve had so much trouble lately.

Aside from that Kevin is one of our best friends. he talked with everyone pretty much at least once a day. He is the Sergeant Hulka, the big toe to EVERYONE that works here. Kevin is pretty much responsible for the great collection of jocks on the station, how good sonically the station sounded and it was his baby. He would get up every morning trying to figure out how to make the station better.

When talking to Kevin, you knew you would be on the phone awhile because if you asked Kevin the time, he would tell you how to build a watch. We all miss those conversations deeply. And wish we could have more.

This seems like a bad movie, the theatre doors are locked and we can’t get out.

All of us have watched and visited day by day and this really hurts. A lot. Our daily hopes and aspirations get coldly knocked down by the reality of his condition.

Please pray or whatever you do for his mother and his lady who have watched him fade into the mystic. Please pray for us as it will be difficult but necessary to move on.

Our hearts are broken in little pieces.

“Heaven set sail in his ship full of light
He transcends all our love
To caress all our fears in a moment divine
Weakest and strongest will dance in delight
All illumines our savior, they bringing him forth
We will sing tonight…
Our true Kingdom come.”
