Kegan has spent most of his life fighting battles that no one should ever have to face. At just six years old, he was diagnosed with brain cancer in 1998. In 2001, the cancer returned in a different part of his brain. The treatments that saved his life also came with lifelong consequences-he lost his hearing from chemotherapy and became blind following a subdural hematoma. In 2019, Kegan underwent surgery to remove a meningioma from his frontal lobe and suffered a stroke during the procedure. And still… he kept fighting.
At Yorktown Bay Blind Camp, he wasn’t just a camper-he was a reminder that life can still hold meaning, laughter, and courage even after so much has been taken. In March of 2026, Kegan was diagnosed with colon cancer. He was admitted to the hospital and, heartbreakingly, never made it back home. Over the course of 24 days, he endured multiple surgeries, severe complications, and unimaginable physical trauma. Kegan is the definition of strength, a warrior in every sense of the word, and his life is a testament to resilience, courage, and faith- he will be deeply missed, forever remembered for the light he brought into the lives of others.
