A service will be held Monday, September 29, 2025 for 70-year-old Kathryn “Kat” L. McMurty of Saint Mary, Mo. who passed away September 25, 2025.
She was born August 5, 1955 a daughter to Monroe McMurty and Berniece (Booth) McMurty, who both preceded her in death.
She is survived by six sisters: Janet (Richard) Hughey, Deborah (Lee) Hibdon, Lavaughnda (Jack) Rayoum, Ramona (John) Burgan, Pamela (Walter) Schwent, and Lisa (Scott) Beck; 16 nieces and nephews, including a special niece: Stephie Banks; 23 great-nieces and great-nephews; and eight great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister: Phyllis Banks-Bisbis.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to noon Monday, September 29, 2025 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
A service for 70-year-old Kathryn “Kat” L. McMurty of Saint Mary, Mo. will be held at 12-noon Monday, September 29, 2025 at the Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve.
Burial will be at Crestlawn Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, Mo..
Kat loved her family most of all. She enjoyed music functions, going to Branson, parties, traveling, Hee Haw shows, playing jokes on people, and remembering people on their special days.
One thing to completely sum up — Kat McMurty: she loved life.
She never met a stranger she didn’t like.
Kat enjoyed her stay at the Care Center and all the love.
She was a member of ARC, 4H Club, Saline Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the ARC or to the Activity Department at Sainte Genevieve Care Center attention Jeri Papin.
