Karon Sue Schmidt, 73, of Altenburg, Missouri passed away Thursday, January 1, 2026 at her residence.
She was born February 11, 1952 in St. Louis, MO to Willis and Lillie (McCalma) Sterling.
Karon and Clifford Schmidt were married November 11, 1972 in Altenburg, MO. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2024.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg
Karon retired as a CMT at Missouri Veteran’s Home after many years. Karon always took very good care of her family and loved her dogs Bandit & Blondie.
Survivors include three children, Rodney (Tracy) Schmidt, Cherie (Keith) Hazel, Melissa (Mayka) Schmidt-Gupta; three siblings, Richard Sterling, Paula (Patrick) Cox, Connie (Craig) Cambran; seven grandchildren, Bryan Strubinger, Jacob Schmidt, Josh Schmidt, Matthew Schmidt, Thomas Woodworth, Nick Hazel, Cody Hazel; five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings, Glenda Baker, James Flannigan, Shirley Scola, Mary Sterling, Willis Sterling, Daniel Sterling, Mark Sterling; sister-in-law, Doreen Carpentar.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg.
Memorial Service will be at 12:00 pm Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg with the Rev. Frank Lucas officiating.
Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Altenburg.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
