STE. GENEVIEVE – In the early hours of June 24, 2025, K9 Ozzy played a crucial role in assisting the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Department during a stolen vehicle investigation at Love’s Truck Stop.
After the suspect fled the scene, K9 Ozzy was deployed and successfully tracked and located the individual, leading to a safe apprehension. K9 Ozzy was then utilized to sniff the vehicle, resulting in the discovery and seizure of methamphetamine.
As a result of this investigation, Alexander Berkbigler was charged with tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree, resisting/interfering with arrest for a felony, possession of a controlled substance, and obstructing government operations. He was transported to the Ste. Genevieve County Jail. A warrant was issued with a bond set at $50,000 cash or surety.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
